Practise the shots that cost you strokes
Practice courses use the same generator as the daily course: doglegs, fairway bunkers, creeks across the fairway, ponds in front of par 3s and sloping greens, with a different wind on every hole. Play a whole round to learn the clubs, then go back to the daily course for the score that counts.
Ideas for practice
- Play one course twice: the second time, lay up short of every hazard and compare.
- Try to finish a round without the driver — accuracy beats distance on tight holes.
- On the green, release a little before the tick on downhill putts and a little after on uphill ones.
