Rarest Answer

How to play Rarest Answer

A cartoon explorer holding up a glowing gem and a stopwatch

In short: every day you get the same 7 open questions as everyone else. For each one you have 25 seconds to type one correct answer. A correct answer scores 5–100 points depending on how few players gave it; a wrong or missing answer scores 0. The best possible day is 700.

The rules

  1. A new set of 7 questions appears every day at 00:00 UTC. Everybody plays the same set.
  2. Each question is an open prompt such as “Name an animal with stripes”. Many answers are correct.
  3. You have 25 seconds. Press Enter or “Dig” to submit; when the clock runs out, whatever you typed is submitted.
  4. One answer per question, one play per day. Reloading the page doesn't reset the clock.

How points work

Points depend only on how many players gave the same correct answer. Early in the day, when few people have played, we start from an estimate of how common each answer is and switch to real player numbers as answers come in.
