Finding fresh questions…

In short: a “one in a krillion” answer is a correct answer hardly anyone gives. Rarest Answer scores you on exactly that — the fewer players who said the same thing, the more points (up to 100 per question). Play straight away above; no sign-up.

How to play

  1. Press Start digging. You get an open prompt such as “Name a country in Africa”.
  2. Type one correct answer within 25 seconds. The obvious one (Egypt) is what everyone says; Lesotho or Djibouti dig deeper.
  3. See what share of players gave your answer — from a common stone to a one-in-a-thousand diamond — plus the most common and rarest answers.
  4. Play the next round straight away, try a topic pack, or come back for the daily 7 and keep a streak.

Tips from the deep end

  • Count to two before typing: your first thought is usually everyone's first thought.
  • Go local. British towns, footballers, sweets and telly characters are often rarer than the American ones most players type.
  • Only play it safe when unsure — a wrong answer scores nothing.

Questions people ask

What does “one in a krillion” mean?

It is a play on “one in a million”: an answer so rare that hardly anyone else gives it. In rare-answer quizzes that is exactly the answer you want — correct, but one almost nobody else thought of.

Is this the official Krillion game?

No. Rarest Answer is an independent quiz with its own questions, scoring and art, inspired by the same idea. It is not affiliated with Krillion or krillion.io; you can play the original at krillion.io.

Is it like Pointless?

Very similar in spirit. On the BBC quiz Pointless you want the correct answer that the fewest of 100 surveyed people gave. Here the “survey” is every player of the game, live, and the rarer your correct answer, the more points you score.

Can I play it in the UK?

Yes — it runs in any browser, with no app or account, and it is free. A new daily set of 7 questions arrives at 00:00 UTC, which is midnight in winter and 1am in summer UK time.

Do British spellings count?

Yes. Colour or color, aluminium or aluminum, courgette or zucchini, football or soccer — alternative spellings and names are accepted, and small typos are forgiven.
