How to play Dartle

  1. Read the category. It tells you what each answer is worth: an element's atomic number, a state's order of admission, a president's number.
  2. Throw a dart. Type an answer and pick it from the list. Its value is revealed and added to your total.
  3. Stand or keep going. After any dart you can stand on your total. Up to 3 darts, each a different answer.
  4. Hit exactly 100. That's a bullseye. Over 100 is a bust and scores 0. Fewer darts wins a tie.

Dartle strategy: think like a darts player

Real darts players plan a checkout before they throw. Do the same: pick a big first dart you are sure of (around 50–60), then look for a pair that finishes the job. Three habits help most:

  • Know the anchors. In most categories a handful of answers are easy to place exactly — Lincoln is 16, Hawaii is 50, Gold is 79. Build around those.
  • Leave yourself an easy finish. A remainder like 10 or 20 has many answers; a remainder like 3 might have one you can't remember.
  • Stand when it's close. 96 is a great score. A bust is 0. If you are not sure of the exact value of your last dart, stand.

The categories

Every category is built from fixed facts, so the values never drift: chemical elements by atomic number; countries by international calling code; us presidents by number; us states by order of admission to the union; books of the bible in order; polygons by number of sides; marvel cinematic universe films in release order (2008–2025); us states by electoral votes (2024 map); movies with a number in the title. Each run of 9 days uses every category once, in a new order each time.

Questions people ask

What is Dartle?

Dartle is a daily trivia game shaped like a darts checkout. There is one category a day — for example chemical elements by atomic number — and every answer is worth its number. You throw up to 3 answers and try to make the total exactly 100. Over 100 is a bust and scores 0.

How do you play Dartle?

Type an answer from today's category and pick it from the list. Its value is added to your total and a dart lands on the board — the closer to 100, the closer to the bull. After any dart you can stand and keep your total. Exactly 100 is a bullseye; on a tie, fewer darts is better.

When does the daily Dartle reset?

Every day at 00:00 UTC, the same category for everyone. The page shows a countdown to the next puzzle once you finish.

Is there a Dartle unlimited mode?

Yes. Press Unlimited practice for a random category from the bank (9 categories and growing). Unlimited rounds don't touch your daily streak.

Is this the official Dartle?

No. This is Rarest Answer's own take on the darts-checkout trivia format, with its own categories, free and without sign-up. The original Dartle is at dartle.net.

How does the share grid avoid spoilers?

Each dart becomes one square by your running total — ⬜ under 40, 🟧 40–69, 🟨 70–89, 🟩 90–99, 🎯 exactly 100, 💥 bust — so friends see how you did, not what you threw.
