In short: in Rarest Answer Wins you score more for animals few other players name, so skip lion, dog and elephant and go for real animals people forget: small mammals, island birds, deep-sea creatures and regional species. The game above is a free browser version of the same idea, and the library below shows which correct answers are genuinely rare, with real percentages.

Shares are the bank's starting estimates and update as people play. Points use Rarest Answer's scale (up to 100).
Tips for rarest-answer animal rounds
- Skip the picture-book animals. Lion, tiger, elephant, dog, cat, giraffe and monkey make up a huge share of answers in any animal round.
- Go one level down. Instead of “shark”, say a species: wobbegong, goblin shark. Instead of “monkey”, say a tarsier or a gelada.
- Think of islands. Madagascar (fossa, aye-aye), New Zealand (kakapo, tuatara) and Australia (quoll, numbat) are full of animals almost nobody names.
- Use the deep sea and the cold. Blobfish, vampire squid, narwhal, Arctic fox and walrus are real, well known and still rare picks.
- Stay correct and spell it right. A made-up or misspelled animal scores nothing; a rare answer has to be a real one.
